A Message From the Principal

Dear Parents,

First, let me welcome you to the 2017 – 2018 school year!  It is an honor and a blessing to work here at Fairforest Elementary School.  I know that you trust us with the safety and education of your precious children every day. Know that as the principal here I never forget how important the children in this school are to each one of you at home.

As the principal of FES I promise each of you these six things:

I will always put student safety first!

I will always love your child and treat him/her as I would have treated my son while in elementary school.

I will always hold our faculty and staff to that same standard.

I will always be honest with you, even if it means I have to tell you things that you would rather not hear and I would rather not say.

I will always listen to your comments, complaints, and suggestions.

I will always make any decision on what is best for our students, not necessarily, what is most convenient for our school staff or our parents.

This handbook has been written to help you and your child understand the operations of our school and its programs.  It is hoped that careful reading of this handbook will answer most of the questions involving policies and procedures that will come up this year, but if not, please do not hesitate to call or email to ask!  I ask that you please review this handbook with your child, as it is important that he/she know and understand the policies and procedures in place to ensure his/her safety and that will allow him/her to be more successful this year!

For those of you new to our school this year, a brief overview of FES could be helpful.  Fairforest Elementary School serves roughly 750 students in grades K4 – 5th grade.  The population at FES is very culturally diverse. It will not be uncommon for your child to be in a classroom with children from 4 or more different cultural backgrounds.  That diversity is valued and appreciated by everyone associated with our school.  The appreciation of people’s differences is what allows students and staff to embrace this school as a safe and caring place where it is okay to be different!

I am excited to have the opportunity to work with each and every one of you again this year. I am looking forward to watching our children learn and grow more than ever!
